Paramus (established 1922, population 26,698) has a distinctive housing mix — from historic Forest Avenue Corridor properties to newer construction in Midland Avenue / Arcola. Our bathroom remodeling approach adapts to each neighborhood's architecture, code requirements, and street-level realities.
We've completed bathroom remodeling projects across Forest Avenue Corridor, Spring Valley Road Area, Midland Avenue / Arcola, East Brook / Century Road, working with homes spanning ZIP codes 07652, 07653. That hyper-local familiarity matters: knowing which Paramus blocks have older galvanized plumbing, which neighborhoods enforce stricter historic-district reviews, and where seasonal weather hits hardest changes how we estimate timelines and material specs.
New Jersey requires permits for almost all decks, additions, and structural work. We hold NJ HIC #13VH11744800 and coordinate directly with the Borough of Paramus Building Department at 1 Jockish Square. Our Forest Avenue office means same-week consultations across Bergen County.
Within Paramus, we're a short drive from Westfield Garden State Plaza, Paramus Park, Bergen Community College, which means faster response times on site visits, material runs, and follow-up walk-throughs than out-of-area contractors can offer.
Our New Jersey office is at 100 Forest Ave FL 1S, in Paramus. That is not a mail-drop address used to claim a service area — it is where the trucks stage, where materials get received, and where the people running your project are based. For Paramus homeowners it means something concrete: a consultation usually inside the same week, a supervisor who can be on site within minutes rather than as a scheduling exercise, and punch-list items closed out without a return trip being a logistical event.
It also explains our Bergen County coverage. Fair Lawn is five minutes out; Ridgewood, Hackensack, Teaneck, Fort Lee, and Wyckoff are all short runs from Forest Avenue. One properly supervised crew can cover that corridor without the travel time that forces other contractors to batch visits.
Paramus built out largely in the post-war decades, and the borough's housing stock is consistent enough that the same three issues come up again and again.
The first is electrical capacity. A panel and service sized for a 1955 household does not support a modern kitchen — induction range, wall oven, dishwasher, microwave, disposal, and a beverage refrigerator represent load nobody was planning for. A service and panel upgrade is frequently the unglamorous first line of a kitchen project here, and it needs to land in the schedule before finish work rather than being discovered mid-project.
The second is the closed floor plan. Kitchens were built as separate rooms, so most Paramus renovations are open-concept conversions, which makes a load-bearing assessment the real first step. We look at joist direction before proposing a beam, not after.
The third is basement moisture. Finishing a Paramus basement means dealing with grading, downspout discharge, and a vapor strategy against the foundation wall before insulation and framing go in. Skipping that step is the most common reason a finished basement fails within a few years.
New Jersey requires permits for nearly all decks, additions, and structural work regardless of size. Paramus construction permits are issued under the statewide Uniform Construction Code through the Borough Building Department at Jockish Square, split into building, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection subcodes — each reviewed separately and each inspected separately at defined stages. An electrical service upgrade is its own subcode item with its own inspection, which is exactly why it has to be sequenced early. Zoning approval is separate from construction permitting and governs setbacks, coverage, and height on any addition.
Pre-1978 homes are common across the borough, bringing the EPA Renovation, Repair and Painting rule into effect. We hold EPA Lead-Safe RRP certification and run contained, HEPA-cleaned work areas with verification before handover.
Both 07652 and 07653 are inside our service area.

A bathroom concentrates plumbing, electrical, ventilation, waterproofing, and tile into the smallest floor area in the house. There is no low-consequence surface: every square foot either sheds water correctly or eventually fails. That density, not luxury finish selection, is why a small bathroom costs more per square foot than a large kitchen.
Tile is a wear surface, not a waterproof one. Behind it belongs a proper substrate and a continuous waterproofing layer, whether a sheet or liquid membrane over cement board or a bonded foam system. Shower pans need correct slope to the drain, corners and changes of plane need reinforcement, and niches and benches need to be pitched so water leaves rather than sits. Nearly every failed shower we are called to inspect failed at a detail — a corner, a curb, a niche — rather than in the open field of tile. A flood test before tile goes on costs a day and is worth it.
An undersized or poorly ducted exhaust fan is the root cause of most bathroom mould and peeling paint. The fan has to be sized to the room volume, ducted to the exterior in insulated rigid or semi-rigid duct with a real damper, and never terminated into an attic or soffit cavity. Venting a bathroom into an attic will produce condensation, staining, and eventually rot regardless of how good the tile work is.
A bathroom typically triggers plumbing and electrical subcodes at minimum, and mechanical if ventilation changes. Rough plumbing and rough electrical are inspected before anything is closed, and moving a toilet is more involved than moving a sink because waste line slope and venting are less forgiving. If the layout changes, expect the rough inspection to be the schedule's fixed point.
Blocking for future grab bars, a curbless shower entry, a wider door, and a comfort-height vanity all cost very little while walls are open and are expensive to retrofit later. For anyone planning to stay in the house long term, these are the highest-value items in the scope even when they are not needed yet.
